About the Course
Course description - Pastels with Sue Gasser. - The pastel class is to help up and coming artists find the best technique in the use of pastels. Although there are many methods I like to share the easiest and most effective way. Students are helped to develop their own style and to recognize it. Requirements are - Good quality pastels, pastel pencils , white and black charcoal pencil, ruler and eraser. Canson pastel paper either in sheets or pastel pads. The beauty of pastels is that mistakes are fixable!
This course is intended to help students develop an individual style. Sue will demonstrate different techniques she has developed over the years.
We will learn from each other In a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with Sue providing critiques to assist your development.
You don't need pastel drawing experience, but must be able to draw. This is a nine week course.
Bring the following with you to your first class:-
Canson paper for pastels, preferable in neutral colour
Faber Castel and Art Spectrum pastels , or what you already have.
Erasers - Kneadable and regular.
Drawing board with clips or tape.
A HB pencil, ruler and pencil sharpener.

Sue Gasser
Sue Gasser is a well known, self taught, Blue Mountains artist with a passion for creating
artworks using pastels, as she finds the medium brings out softness and fine details that
no other medium can achieve. Her subjects are mostly animals with a particular passion
for wildlife.
Sue has spent a lifetime painting and drawing and after completing a show card and ticket
writing course in 1986-87, she became a full time professional artist.
She has had many successful exhibitions and her artwork is represented in Australian and
overseas galleries. Her brilliance has won her the top prize in the Art of Sydney Awards
2013 “Best Exhibit in Show” She has also won many art awards with at least half being
“The Viewer’s Choice Award” which tells her what the public like
Some of these awards are - First prize in her section Works on Paper 'Art awards of
Sydney' 2010. Other first prize art awards are Castle Hill show, Hawkesbury Art show,
Penrith Art show, Castle Hill Orange Blossom Festival, Canine Art Exhibition, Buckinbah
Art Show.
