About the Course
COURSE OUTLINE
Practice painting in soft pastels and/or oil pastels in a comfortable air conditioned studio. Grant is an experienced pastel artist and will provide support and guidance for you when necessary.
This course is suitable for both a beginner or more experienced artist .
Beginners will be shown how to set up and execute a painting in pastel.
Experienced artists willl be shown how to add zing to their work with attention to tone, composition and a limited colour palette.
You can work on your own subject or the subjects that Grant provides, mostly from photographs. . We will also look at the work of other artists in various mediums to draw inspiration. Weather permitting we will paint plein aire one time.
WHAT TO BRING.
Pastel Paper: Clairefontaine Pastelmat Pad (24cm x 30cm) or two full sheets of Art Spectrum colourfix paper. Choose light grey or dark blue and tear up into A4 size. Buy several sheets of glassine paper to cover the finished work . Aslo a can of workable fixative to seal the finished work.
An A5 sketch book to do tonal sketches to plan the composition, pencil biro note book, .
Soft Pastels, a cheap set such as Mungyo for blocking in and softer Artist quality Art Spectrum pastels ( in light medium and dark.... blue, red, yellow, orange, in warm and cool colours , plus a few earth colours ).
A couple of pastel pencils in dark blue, dark green, light grey and white .
For Oil Pastels. A set of Mungayo oil pastels plus a few sennelier oil pastels in similar colours as above.
Not sure?. Turn up at the first class with what you have and we will go from there. Boards and easels available. . Kitchen, washing facilities available.

Grant Eyre is a visual artist with a working career as a civil
draftsman followed by a retirement learning to paint and
draw. His journey in Art has lead to four First Prizes in
Drawing, several Highly Commended awards , with works
in private collections.
